School Holds Annual Science Fair
Students put together some very elaborate projects for School Science Fair, held this year for the first time in the St. Albert the Great Science Center. The first place winners for each grade were topics entitled "Hover Train," "To Turn for Not to Turn," "Wash Away," and "Sugary, Slimy, Stinky Body Organs." Students will go on to compete at the District Science Fair on April 27 at Our Lady of Martyrs School. Pictures from the school fair are posted at http://www.steliznyc.org/photos.asp.
Once again, several students excelled in the New York City Department of Environmental Water Conservation Art and Poetry Contest. We congratulate fifth grader Samantha Casimiro (Borough-wide winner), sixth grader Nicholas Durverge, and fifth graders Jason Garcia and Carlos Morales. The students will be honored at a special ceremony on May 11.
Donate Money with Your Target Credit Card
Like some of you, I have a Target credit card that I don't necessarily need, but that I signed up for so that my a percentage of my purchases could go back to the school. I recently purchased a piece of furniture from Target with that card, and now I'm looking forward to seeing 1 percent of that show up on Target's next check to St. Elizabeth School. We still only have a handful of people signed up for the program, but every little bit helps.
I encourage you to sign up for the program if you haven't already. For myself, raising three kids in the suburbs, I visit the store regularly, and I like knowing that it's one way I can give back to the school, beyond the donation that I already make. To sign up yourself, please go to http://www.steliznyc.org/shop.asp for a link to this and similar programs. Also, please email me if you hear of additional programs that we may want to look into!

God bless you and your families!
