Alumni E-Newsletter

Dear Alumni,

As the second graders of the parish and school look forward to First Communion this weekend, we ask that you keep the children in your prayers during this important part of their spiritual journey.  To see pictures of the event, and perhaps reminisce about your own First Holy Communion, please go to our website www.steliznyc.org next week.

Students Accepted into Aquinas Enrichment Program

Three seventh grade students have been accepted into the Aquinas High School PULSE (Partnership for Urban Life Science Education) Program, a challenging Saturday enrichment science program. We congratulate Amber Hamilton, Gabrielle Mariduena and Maria Ojeda for their achievement.

Donate Money While Shopping Office Depot

Don't forget that, when making your office and school supply purchases, Office Depot gives back 5% of your purchases to St. Elizabeth School in the form of free supplies.  Simply give them our ID, which is # 70074191, when you're checking out at the store.  For information on more ways to contribute to the school while shopping at other stores and online, go to www.steliznyc.org/shop.asp.

Alumni Reunion News

As a reminder, the classes of 1947 and 1957 are planning reunions for their big anniversary years in 2007.  For more information, please email Judith Fray Murray, class of 1957, at jandjmurray@msn.com, or Tom Hughes at tah1933@gmail.com.  We are still looking for a number of "missing" alumni from those classes and others.  Please view our list at http://www.steliznyc.org/alummissing.asp.

If you would like to plan a reunion for your own class, please email me at officedev@steliznyc.org, and I can assist you with classmate contact information and publicity.  Planning a class reunion does not have to be a daunting task.  We have compiled a page of helpful hints for planning a class get-together, from the simple to the very elaborate.  Also, a handful of former St. E reunion organizers have said that they would be willing to answer questions from fellow alumni.  Visit the information page at www.steliznyc.org/alumreunionfaq.asp

Wish List for 2007-2008

As we prepare for the 2007-08 school year, we ask that you take a look at our school's wish list at www.steliznyc.org/wishlist.asp for ways that you might be able to help.  The school has added to its list a Smartboard that can be used to teach interactive lessons.  It has the ability to move from room to room, and can be utilized for a wide variety of subjects.  Our world's technology is growing by leaps and bounds each day, and it is important that we introduce the students to the various resources that will be available to them.

Alum Offers College Help

Cathy Fagan, class of 1973, currently coordinates the Writing Placement Program at Nassau Community College.  She would love to hear from anyone who remembers her, and would be pleased and happy to help any children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends of alumni who might be passing through Nassau Community and in need of help or guidance.  She can be contacted at faganc@ncc.edu.

It's Tax Refund Time!

If you are receiving a tax refund, think about sharing it and making an extra donation to help offset the school's operating expenses or to contribute to the Sponsor a Student Program.  Not only will you be helping St. Elizabeth School, but you'll have an additional deduction for 2007.  To find out how to contribute online or by mail, go to www.steliznyc.org/types.asp.

Thank you as always for your prayers and support, and may God bless you.

Sincerely,

Jenny Kaeppner
Director of Development
St. Elizabeth School
