APRIL, 2010 NEWSLETTER
FOR THE ALUMNI AND FRIENDS OF
ST. ELIZABETH SCHOOL
Dear
Alumni and Friends of St. Elizabeth School,
This April newsletter is a little late because we wanted to wait to share with
you the news of the two reunions that were held this Spring!
On April 25th, twelve members of the Class of 1978 met at Church for the 12:30
Mass with Chairperson Maritza Palacios Tribuzio serving as lector and Gerard
Britt and Luz Bell-Aties bringing up the gifts in the Offertory Procession.
The group returned to school to tour their old classrooms and see our new
additions, such as the Technology Lab, Science Center and Library. They had a
great time reminiscing about old times and their teachers especially Sr.
Delamor and Miss Santa Rita. Two alumni travelled quite far: Gerard Britt from
Manassas, Virginia, and John McAlary from Slingersland, New York, which is
near Albany. We are so grateful for the generous gift the class gave to the
school.
On Saturday evening, May 1, the Class of 1980 arrived. Twenty four of the
original 69 members of the class came from as far as Utah and Florida to
celebrate their 30th Anniversary! The group gathered in what is now the
conference room or as some said, the Music Room, for refreshments and to renew
old acquaintances. Ingrid Castillo Renderos, Karen McAlary, Anthony Salcedo,
and Oscar Herasme did a great job of contacting their classmates and urging
them to come! The name tags Karen made with graduation pictures imprinted were
a big hit! They were also useful as come faces were unfamiliar after all these
years! St. Elizabeth School thanks the class for their gift and pledges toward
the purchase of a Smartboard.
To both committees, a heartfelt thank you for all your work to make the events
such a success! It would not have happened without your dedication and
perseverance!
We are looking forward to the 75th Anniversary of St. Elizabeth School which
will take place in the Spring of 2011. This promises to be a very special day
and we are expecting many of our alumni and friends to return to St. Elizabeth
for the celebration.
For this reason, we will not be hosting any individual class reunions at the
school during the coming year except the 50th Anniversary for the Class of
1960 to be held on October 17th. Chairpersons Theresa Fenwick and Eileen
Parker are working very hard to contact all their classmates. If you are
member of the Class of 1960, please email me your new address and email so I
can forward it to them.
The Peace Garden Dedication, originally scheduled for the Spring, has been
postponed until certain structural problems have been resolved. We apologize
for the delay but want to be sure that all is in perfect shape for our
ceremony.
We are busy gathering class notes for the May newsletter. Class of 1978 and
1980, please complete your homework assignment and email them to me!
