Alumni E-Newsletter

Dear Alumni,

For many of you, it may seem like yesterday that you were St. Elizabeth students, preparing for the Christmas play and dreaming about that special present under the tree.  To help a few of you relive the memory, Bill Appel sent us a copy of a picture from the 1958 play.  See it, and current pictures of the students, on our website at www.steliznyc.org.

Website Changes Planned

We're redoing the school website!  Over the next few months, the site will be redesigned with new features, a new look and easier navigation.  Your suggestions for the new site are welcome and most appreciated.  Please send comments to me at officedev@steliznyc.org.

CYO Basketball

The school CYO program is having an extremely successful year.  On Sunday, December 11 the boys' junior varsity capped off one of the most successful weekends in recent times for the St. Elizabeth Basketball program. With their win over Epiphany, the St. Elizabeth teams finished the weekend with four victories.  The girls varsity notched their third win of the year with a buzzer beater win over Immaculate Conception in the south Bronx when Ashley Geohagan hit Janice Rodriguez for the exciting game winning shot.  The Girls' Junior Varsity captured their third win of the year and ran their record to 3-1 with their triumph over St. Charles in Harlem on December 9.  Please check the schedule on the website www.steliznyc.org for opportunities to come cheer on our teams.

We are in the process of developing a website page about the history of St. Elizabeth School CYO basketball.  To view the page, and to contribute stories and pictures, please go to the Athletics page on the website.

Student Council Elected

Congratulations to the new officers elected to the St. Elizabeth School Student Council: President Darisa Alcantara (grade 8), Vice President Kayla Nelson (grade 8), Treasurer Michelle Blankas (grade 7), and Secretary Krystal Melendez (grade 7).

Library to Receive New Furnishings

Thanks to a very generous gift from Vincent ('55) and Frances Lubrano, the school will be able to purchase 6 tables and 24 chairs for the library. These furnishings will be used by students when coming to the library for research projects, book discussions, etc.  If you would like to make your own holiday gift to the school, please see our wish list at www.steliznyc.org.

Open House and Liturgy Scheduled

The schedule has been set for Catholic Schools Week, January 30 through February 3.  Please join us for our Open House on Wednesday, February 1 from 9 am to 12 noon.  This would be a wonderful time to check out the new Science Center to be dedicated that week.  Also, we will have a School Liturgy of Thanksgiving on Thursday, February 2, at 9 am, and would love to have alumni present.  Please let us know if you plan on attending either event, so we can be sure to watch for you!

Please know that you are in our prayers this holiday season and always.  May God bless you and your families this Christmas!

Sincerely,

Jenny Kaeppner
