Dear Alumni,
During this season of shopping, holiday
activities, and family gatherings, I hope that you are finding some quiet
time to yourself. In the classrooms and at Mass, the children have
been excitedly preparing for Christmas, in prayer, service and reflection on
the birth of Jesus.

The
season began with the blessing of Advent candles for the classrooms.
On Monday, December 11, seventh grade students visited Isabella Nursing Home
in Washington Heights to give out cards and crafts made in art class.
The choir also performed. On Tuesday, December 12, students and
parishioners celebrated a beautiful Mass to remember the Feast of Our Lady
of Guadalupe. Last week even the littlest children were able to
purchase presents for family members at the annual Christmas Shop.
This
week primary students will have Breakfast with Santa, and everyone will
gather together for the always splendid Christmas Sing. Photos of all
of these events are being posted online at www.steliznyc.org/photos.asp.
We hope that you enjoy viewing them, as perhaps they invoke a few memories
of your own Christmases at St. Elizabeth School.
Alumni
News
Mary Ann Healy,
Class of 1959 is looking for Oona
Evers ('58). She lived on 192nd Street between St. Nicholas and
Audubon. If you have any information, please email her at
mah10960@aol.com.
As I mentioned last month, please contact me if you are interested in
trying to locate "missing alumni," and I will continue to
include postings here.
The Class of 1947 is working on plans for a reunion in
2007 to celebrate their 60th anniversary and for a class gift to
commemorate the occasion. Emily (Lance) Falco '47 is spearheading
the effort. Please email me for her phone number if you would be
interested in attending or contributing.
Engraved Bricks for Sale
The school received an additional grant for the renovation of the Peace
Garden courtyard from The Barrett Foundation, Inc, secured with the help
of Father Joseph Sanches '53. With this latest grant, we are
excitedly planning for the second phrase of construction in the spring,
including the brick planter that has been planned with engraved
commemorative bricks. As part of this project, we are continuing
to sell these bricks. Members of the Class of 1959, who
have already committed to a number of bricks, have issued a challenge to
other classes to participate as well! Consider a brick in memory
of deceased family member or classmate, or to remember a special
occasion. Go to our order form at
www.steliznyc.org/brickorder.pdf.
Raise Funds While Shopping
Parents and friends gave a great deal of support to
our first several fundraisers of the year. The Innisbrook Christmas Sale
raised over $7500 and Halloween activities raised $2015 to offset school
operating expenses. You can help too by going to www.innisbrook.com
and making your own purchases. They
have more than just for the holidays: birthday
wrapping, bows, chocolate, books and magazines, stationery, etc. The
school will get 50% of all orders placed! Share this with your
family and friends. Simply
type in our school id #108891.
Last Chance for
2006 Donations
The
end of the tax year is quickly approaching. If you would like to
make a gift to our recent Annual Appeal, and count it toward your 2006
deductions, please go to http://www.steliznyc.org/devel.asp.
A special thank you to those who have already contributed!
