Dear Alumni and Friends of St. Elizabeth School,

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I can’t believe it is almost March. The year is flying by and we in New York are looking forward to some warm spring weather!

Our students celebrated Valentine’s Day with a "no uniform day" and everyone wore red! During the afternoon, many cupcakes and cookies went up and down the halls to the happy recipients. I must admit, I made sure I was in the right hallway to get a treat!

On a different note, a few weeks ago, Sr. Eileen Barrow, our Assistant Principal suffered a fall and broke her hip. It happened when she was facilitating a workshop at another school – it wasn’t on the ice or snow. She is home now and recuperating nicely but she can’t wait to be back in school! Please keep her in your prayers that her recovery continues so well.

To the Class of ’59 – your 50th Anniversary is fast approaching! Bill Appel emailed us to let you know that class members are planning a reunion at St. Elizabeth during the Columbus Day weekend this coming October. If you would be interested in attending or receiving more information, please let me know and I will forward your current address and email to the committee.

A sad note: two of our alumni have recently passed away. Col. James Wesley Hammond ’43 of Reno, Nevada (reported to us by his classmates and friends, Tom Kent and Bill Farrell) and Robert Hrzanek ’59 of the Bronx (reported to us by Bill Appel). Please join our students and faculty in praying for them.

Many alumni wrote or emailed their St. Elizabeth Christmas memories. Do you have any favorite St. Patrick’s Day or Easter stories to share?

Our Annual Fund Appeal for 2009 should have reached most of you. Please try to help as much as you can this year. We are working with so many parents who have lost their jobs and just cannot pay full tuition right now. We know we can count on our loyal alumni and friends!

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Lynch
