Alumni E-Newsletter

Dear Alumni,

Hello and happy New Year!  Next week we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week.  The theme this year is "Catholic Schools Light the Way," reminding us all of the special ways that schools like St. Elizabeth prepare its students for the future, academically, spiritually, socially and physically.

Open House and Special Mass Scheduled

For those of you who are or will be in the area, the school's annual Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29 from 9 am to 12 noon.  This is a wonderful opportunity to tour the school and visit with current students.  (They love to hear your stories of St. Elizabeth's "back in the day!")

There is also a special Mass scheduled for Thursday, January 31 at 9 am to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.  All are welcome!  Please let us know if you plan on attending either event so we know to watch for you.

Student Excellence

Congratulations to Lucien Liz-Lepiorz, grade 8, who placed third in the Science Division of the Academic Olympics at Mount St. Michael Academy recently!  Seventh and eighth graders from Archdiocesan elementary schools participated.

St. E's Basketball

Congratulations to the Girls' Varsity CYO Basketball Team for their 2nd Place finish in the Christmas Tournament at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx.  Come to a game and cheer on the players if you're in the area.  The 2007-08 season schedule is posted at www.steliznyc.org/bballschedule.asp.

We're proud of CYO Boys' Basketball Coach Ms. Justine Clifford and the boys who collected and donated $120 from the boys' team for "Project St. Nicholas."  They provided presents for a family of four this past Christmas, as part of a program of the CYO and Catholic Charities.
