Dear Alumni and Friends of St. Elizabeth School:
Hi, everybody! Hope those of you in the North are enjoying the snow and those in the South are enjoying the sun!
St. Elizabeth is now celebrating Catholic School Week. The children all love the special activities, especially the Faculty/Student Volleyball game!
Maritza Palacios Tribuzio brought us up to date on the mini reunion that was held on Dec. 6 for the Class of 1978. Robert Abreu, Alex Torres and Maritza met at the home of Joyce Colon at 7 p.m. and talked the night away till 1 a.m. Maritza writes, "We were reflecting on our math class with Mrs. Miller and our Social Studies class with Sr. Margaret. We had earlier memories of favorite teachers like Ms. Perez, Ms. Miranda, Mr. Richard and Ms. Carroll. All in all we walked away knowing we all had gotten the best education that our parents’ money could buy. We were all very appreciative of the sacrifices our parents made for us." Since they are planning another get together for the spring, we hope to get some more memories!
If any other class is meeting or would like info on contacting classmates, please let me know.
It was so nice to hear from so many of you during the Christmas holidays. Many shared your "Christmas Memories." Here are a few. Eileen Dunnion Farrell ’77 remembers singing in the choir loft and enjoying the view from atop. She thinks it was Sister Ann who led the choir. Kathie Pierce Otoole ’59 remembers the Christmas pageants where she was always an angel, until 8th grade when she was a "sorrowful mother (Herod killed my child) looking for Jesus." And the young men who played the soldiers used the window poles as swords!
Monica Zenner Caselli ’74 remembers learning the lyrics to "The Little Drummer Boy," and says, "To this day, every time I hear that song, I think of the St. Elizabeth's Christmas Pageant." Cathy Magee ‘55 reminisces about the years where there were two casts for the Christmas play: one for the school show and one for St. Clare’s Hospital. She was disappointed at being chosen for the school production till there was a snowstorm and the St. Clare performance was cancelled!
Our Annual Fund Appeal will be reaching you all in a few weeks. Please be as generous as you can! You are our backbone and we rely on you so much! Please let us know if you are going to be in the Washington Heights area and would like to drop by for a visit. I am usually in the school on Fridays and would love to meet with you! Keep in touch!
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Lynch
