Sr. Noreen is back with her sister after spending some time at the convent in Sparkill.  She is recuperating and getting healthier day by day.  She thanks everyone for their prayers and good wishes.

On Friday, June 12^th, St. Elizabeth School held graduation for the Class of 2009!

 Thirty-one graduates processed into church in their caps and gowns as St. Elizabeth celebrated its 70^th graduation exercises.  Fr. Kearney, joined by the other parish priests, said Mass for the graduates, their parents and friends, and the school community. Congratulations to all our students.

Last month, I asked our alumni to send in memories of the old neighborhood.  Many of you wrote about the various stores you remembered.  Just a few…Apicella Fish Market at 182^nd & St. Nicholas Ave. (still there), the old precinct at 182^nd & Wadsworth is now an alternative school building (Maureen Murphy Nutting ’60); Gibbons Funeral Home, Wallace’s Funeral Home, Mrs. A’s candy store (Mary Ellen McKeon Noselli ’57); Joe & Lou’s luncheonette, Wadsworth’s, Grant’s (no longer in existence), Woolworth’s (also out of business) and Ferguson’s (Cathy Mirenda Fagan ’64); McGee’s Bar (Carol Ann Durfee ’59); the corner hardware store at 187^th & St. Nick (Eileen Farrell Dunnion ’77); and two that were mentioned most often: Bodenstein’s Bakery and Wurtheimer’s.  Any more?

2009 ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAME

If you weren’t here, you really missed it!  Twenty-five former players and a host of other alums attended and had a great time.  REUNION UPDATES

Class of 1959    Sunday, Oct. 11, 12:30 Mass at St. Elizabeth followed by a reception in the school.  Mass will be celebrated by Fr. James Flanagan of the Class of ’59. Fr. Flanagan is now pastor of Holy Family in the Bronx.  Email Bill Appel at tellappel@aol.com

Class of 1978    Last Saturday, June 20, there was a BBQ for alumni and families, hosted by Maritza Palacios Tribuzio, Robert Abreu, Joyce Colon Mola, and Alex Torres. Betsy Perez-Minto and Vivian Pernas-Carbonell joined them for a great time although the weather did not cooperate!  Another mini-reunion is definite for September during the Fort Tryon Park Medieval Festival.  More details to come.
