Alumni E-Newsletter
Dear Alumni,
I'm
sure you are looking forward to spring wherever you are, as the children are
at St. Elizabeth School.
Our
Girls are Manhattan CYO Champs
As some of you heard in an
earlier email, last Thursday the St. Elizabeth Girls
Varsity Basketball Team won 27-26 over St. Charles
Borromeo, with a clutch shot in the final seconds
of the game. On their road to the championship,
they were also victorious over St. Joseph and Epiphany
in the playoffs. On Saturday they were
eliminated in the Bronx CYO Championships, losing
to St. Barnabas in the Bronx. Many thanks to
those who came out to support the team.
The girls have had a spectacular season, led by Coach
Michael O'Boyle and Assistant Coach Richard Solis.
If you wish to send a message to the girls and coaches
to congratulate them, please email it to me at
officedev@steliznyc.org
and I will forward it along.
Students to Papal Youth Rally
CBS News Visits School
Thirteen of our students will have the
privilege of attending the Youth Rally with His Holiness, Pope Benedict
XVI, on April 19 at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. The students,
who were chosen by lottery, will attend with two of the teachers.
Father Peter Pomposello, Parochial
Vicar for St. Elizabeth Church, has initiated a Archdiocesan-wide
contest for a student to design an official papal skateboard. Father
Pomposello, who moderates the school’s Skateboarding Club was
interviewed about the contest last Friday by CBS News.
As part of the CBS visit, students from St. Elizabeth,
St. Jude and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs demonstrated their skateboarding
skills, and were interviewed as well.

Smartboard
Received: Donate for Installation
The school has received the donation of a Smartboard! A
Smartboard is an interactive whiteboard, onto which a projector
throws the computer's desktop image. Users can
"write" on the whiteboard and control computer
applications by pointing and clicking on the board, just as with a
desktop mouse. This will be a wonderful addition to lesson
plans and provide students with an even greater technological
background.
About $2000 is still needed for the installation of the board.
To contribute to this important project, please go to
http://www.steliznyc.org/wishlist.asp and
click on the donation link. Be sure to designate for the
Smartboard installation on the wish list item line.
Be sure to check our website at
www.steliznyc.org
for more information about school and alumni news and events, and
for recent photos. May God bless you and your families this
upcoming Easter and always!
Sincerely,
Jenny Kaeppner
