The school year is off to a great start, with the completion of the Science Center and our anticipated dedication on the Feast of St. Elizabeth on November 18.  We hope that you had a wonderful summer!  It's time to give you an update on some of the exciting things going on at the school ...

Students Aid Hurricane Victims

St. Elizabeth School students raised $1454.30 to assist their peers in areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  As a part of the National Catholic Education Association’s (NCEA) “Child to Child: A Catholic Campaign to Aid Education,” students across the country were asked to raise money for the educational needs of their counterparts in the affected areas.  We are proud of our students and continue to pray for the hurricane victims.  

Upcoming Class Reunion News

Alumni from the classes of 1955 through 1963 are invited to a reunion hosted by Bill Appel '59.  The reunion will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2005, at his home in Brooklyn.  About fifty alums have already signed up to attend.  For more information, please email Bill at TellAppel@aol.com.

Class of 1955 Reunion

The class of 1955 held their 50th reunion on Saturday, September 24 at the Pearl River Elks Lodge in Nanuet, New York, with additional festivities throughout the weekend.  See our website www.steliznyc.org for photos of the event.  If you were in attendance and have photos you would like to share, please email them to me at officedev@steliznyc.org.

Classrooms Refurnished

The school received some exciting news over the summer! Thanks to several "wish list" donations and grants, many of our classrooms will receive new desks, chairs, shades, and refinished blackboards.  With much of them the original 1950 furnishings, not in the best of shape, the work was long overdue!  The Hackett Foundation of New Jersey funded a grant for the complete refurnishing of room 11.  A friend of the school provided for work on the remaining classrooms, and a gift from an alum helped supplement the project.  Work on several other classrooms was completed over the summer, with the rest to be done during school breaks.
