April 2001 - The kick-off of a paper recycling program is just one of
the many events planned to celebrate Earth Day at St. Elizabeth School.
Beginning the week of April 23, classrooms
will begin recycling white paper, which will then be collected and bagged by
student volunteers. The students are very excited about the opportunity to do
something to help beautify their surroundings.
Additionally that week, the school will discuss the environment in various
classes, hold a noonday prayer and special reading each day, take an oath committing
to take care of the environment, and make "Earth Week" posters. The
fifth through eighth grade science classes will plant seeds, and cultivate plants
to take to local nursing homes in May.
