August 2008 - The
Friends of Nick Foundation named four "Nick Forstmann Scholars" from
St. Elizabeth School, who were awarded four-year high school scholarships. The
winners were Marcela Madera and Juan Diaz ($16,000) and Adeline Manzano and
Nohely Vasquez ($8,000). The students will attend St. Vincent Ferrer, Cardinal
Spellman, Mother Cabrini and Aquinas High Schools respectively.
The Foundation sponsored a program for eighth
graders focused on character-building sessions, as well as a series of evening
workshops with the students and their parents. It is named after the late Nick
Forstmann, benefactor of Archdiocesan programs, and administered by Elissa
Moran, Program Director of the Foundation, as well as the sister of Mr.
Forstmann.
