MONSIGNOR
GERALD T. WALSH APPOINTED AUXILIARY BISHOP
September 2004 - Pope John Paul II has
appointed our Pastor Gerald T. Walsh as an Auxiliary Bishop for the New York
Archdiocese.
He will be ordained to the episcopacy by
the Cardinal on Tuesday, Sept. 21, the feast of St. Matthew, at a Mass of
Ordination at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Also appointed is Dennis J. Sullivan,
Parochial Vicar for St. Elizabeth Church in the 1970s.
In addition to serving as Pastor since 1998, Bishop-elect
Walsh also serves as Archdiocesan Vicar for Development and as Regional Vicar of
North Manhattan. He returned home in April after a long recovery from an injury
and surgical complications.
