SR. NOREEN NOLAN, OP HONORED

October 2002 - Principal Sr. Noreen Nolan, OP is a recipient of the 2002-2003 Elizabeth Ann Seton Compassionate Educator’s Award. This Archdiocesan award, sponsored by the Sisters of Charity, honors those “who reflect the saint’s generous love and reverent care in the education of children.”

Sr. Noreen was nominated by Assistant Principal Sr. Eileen Barrow, OP. Included in the nomination were examples of Sr. Noreen’s strong participation in the faith community of the school, positive interactions with families and teachers, development of and involvement in special school programs, love of teaching, and dedicated work with the students to achieve their full potential.

The award was presented at the Archdiocesan Teacher’s Institute on October 17, by Sr. Irene Fugazy, SC, Director of Elizabeth Ann Seton Projects for the Sisters of Charity, and by Sr. Mary Kilmartin, SC, of the Superintendent’s Office. Sr. Noreen was one of six recipients: teachers, principals, and a guidance counselor from elementary and high schools representing the ten counties of the Archdiocese.

Sr. Noreen Nolan is the third member of the St. Elizabeth community to receive the award. Previously, universal pre-k teacher Maria Lourdes DeGorostiza and the late seventh grade teacher Sr. Mary Scanlon, RJM were honored.
