September 2003 -
As we mentioned in the Annual Report,
three students recently benefited from the generous establishment of two new
scholarships. The Donohue Family established the John and Mary Kate Donohue
Memorial Scholarship in memory of their parents, and art teacher Jennifer
Hayward and her family established the Francis T. Diehl, Jr. Memorial
Scholarship in memory of her grandfather. We were also blessed recently to
receive a gift from the Class of 1978 to continue the Emma Bonilla-Abreu
Memorial Scholarship for 2003-04. These join the John & Agnes McCarten
Scholarship Fund and donations to the Sponsor a Student Program in supporting
our students.
This is an extremely valuable way
to honor the memory of a loved one. Students who are chosen for this type of
tuition assistance must be motivated, put forth their best effort, and promote
the philosophy of St. Elizabeth School by their words and actions. A scholarship
such as this is sometimes the only way that students from the neighborhood can
receive a St. Elizabeth School education.
You may also consider a planned gift, such as
setting up a guideline in your will that establishes a scholarship fund to be
drawn from yearly. There are many other types of planned gifts. Please contact
the Office of Development for more information about how you can make quality
education possible for a deserving student.
