After
a long process of analysis and planning by St. Elizabeth faculty and
administration, our proposal has been accepted for reaccreditation from the
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Original accreditation for
the school was in 1993.
Middle States is a non-profit organization
that promotes the improvement of education for youth by evaluating the degree to
which a school has attained worthwhile outcomes set by its own staff and
community.
The St. Elizabeth School proposal
introduces innovative approaches to reading and language arts over the next five
years, by enriching vocabulary; emphasizing proper oral and written
communication, better use of library, technology and other resources; and
integrating the Arts across the curriculum.
The final step in the process will be a
site visit by the Middle States committee on March 30-April 1. The committee
will tour the school and meet with members of the St. Elizabeth community. The
visit will also include a colloquium with exciting presentations by the
students, teachers and administration.
According to Assistant Principal Eileen
Barrow, OP, "the reaccreditation proposal simply emphasizes the work that
we are already doing. Each year the school community completes a self-evaluation
process that ensures that our programs and services continue to meet the needs
of the students."
Once the process is complete, the expected accreditation
will last for 10 years.
