Dec
2000 - The St. Elizabeth Handbell Choir was recently established with eight
students in the upper grades and two octaves of bells.
According to music teacher Kevin Verrette, the handbells provide students with
valuable hands-on experience, allowing them to learn musical notes with means
other than song. The bells have also been used in regular music classes, and Mr.
Verrette eventually hopes to add to the group and to create a “feeder group” of
fourth- and fifth-grade students.
We appreciate the opportunity to share this beautiful art form with the school
community. Anyone wishing to contribute to the program or to assist in purchasing
additional bells should please contact the school at (212) 568-7291.
