On October 18 students participated in a special anniversary Mass for
Police Officer Michael J. Buczek, of the 34th Precinct, who was shot and killed
during a drug raid in Washington Heights in 1988, at the age of 24.
The students in Mrs.
Pagan's kindergarten class created a special pumpkin patch with their parents.
The Archdiocese of
New York, which celebrates its bicentennial in 2008, held a special mass for the
North Manhattan Vicariate on Tuesday, October 9. His Eminence Edward
Cardinal Egan was joined by a number of area priests, including our pastor Fr.
Daniel Kearney, to concelebrate the mass, and a reception followed.
The Parish held a
farewell mass and reception for former pastor Bishop Gerald T. Walsh on Sunday
October 7, 2007.
Students in Mrs.
Tuason's eighth grade classes were assigned to work in groups and learn about a
Blues artist. They used Powerpoint, wrote original Blues Songs as it
applied to their lives, used costumes and even musical instruments and props to
perform. They also brought in chicken and rice to serve.

Summer renovations
included replacement of the tile flooring in all of the first and second floor
hallways and classrooms, sponsored by gifts from friends, parents and alumni, as
well as a matching grant from the Endowment for Inner-City Education. In
addition, the mailroom and conference room received face lifts.
